Colour Analysis
Many publications and trend predicting agencies produce colour analysis of the future and current trends such as this one.
The subject of color analysis has also always retained a strong following of scientists and artists. Nowadays, as artists and art-directors we have tools to manipulate and control our images so that they match the current colour palette trends.
Using scripts and online software we can analyse an image to give us its main colour palettes; my favourite is the DeGraeve analyser. Our colourist can then make sure that our image or campaign matches the colour palettes of current or future predicted trends. He can continually manipulate the image until it matches the colour scheme published by our trend analysis.
An interesting site to study trends used in magazines and the web is a site called colourlovers.com.
There are a constant stream published web material on the net for our images to match.
Pantone do a seasonal color report from all the shows.
WearPalettes has many good examples of brand photography matching colour palettes.
